Survey Project Reflection

Before I start this survey project, I really think that it is a very easy job. We just need to decide 10 questions and upload to the survey website , later on only waiting for the comment and then that's all. However, it is not the case . This is a difficult job for us actually.

First, Japan had a serious earthquake after we uploading the survey a few day later. It was hashy for us to find people to finish our survey, and it would affect the credibility of our survey. Even though we tried to post the link on many forum ,and all my Japanese friends help a lot ,there were only 16 interviewees.

Secondly, I think the presentation part of our project was not good enough. I want to say thank you to my dear groupmate-reika, she tried her best to improve our project and ppt. However, there were too many workloads at the same time so that we couldn't spend more time to prepare a better job.

After the survey project, I learned a lot from different topics and also form my classmates. Their presentation include so many areas such as marriage, ACG, daily life etc. Listening their presentation I knew much more about the Japanese people and some results were really surprising me. The most surprise part was that the Japaneses' teens thought that nowadays the quanlity of Japanese comics  was declining. Since I was studied in primary school, I started to read the Japanese comics and till now I still think Japanese comics are the best.

Besides, we did the others group surveys during the lesson, when I receive those questionnaires, the result had a big different between the datas we collected form the online.
This showed a clear message, ' Hong Kong people's thinking were not alike the Japaneses' thinking'

Also, their ppt attracted my attention successfully. It was because the ppt had been add different technic and interesting photos. All of them did excellent and really taught me a lesson.

Personal pronoun project

In English, we only can use one pronoun 'I' to represent ourselves. Whatever you are young or old, or in different gender, we all use the same pronoun. However, we have different terms to use if you are in different position, such as WATASHI(私), ORE(俺), BOKU(僕) etc.

Watashi(私)

Name:(Nate River)
Animation:Death Note
Age:around 13~15 years old
personality:childishness(like playing puzzles and robots so much)
                    genius、polite

Both male and female can use 'watashi' , some young girl may use 'atashi' to show they are young and cute. Beside 'watashi', there are the others pronoun often using by the male.

Ore(俺)

Left-hand side :
Name:海堂薰
Animation:テニスの王子様(the prince of tennis)
Age:14 years old (國中二年生)
Personality:sporty、testy、shy

Right-hand side:
Name:桃城武
Animation:テニスの王子様(the prince of tennis)
Age:14 years old (國中二年生)
Personality:sporty、indomitable、friendly

Name:ファイ(prince &magician)
Animation:ツバサ-RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-
Age:???
Personality:Cheerful、reliable

Boku(僕)

Name:入江奏多
Animation:テニスの王子様(the prince of tennis)
Age:17~18 years old(高校三年生)
Personality:talent、crafty、self-confident

Watashi(私)、ore(俺) and boku(僕) are common pronouns which used by Japanese nowadays. In the Japanese textbook, the information always teach the readers female only using watashi ,and male are using watashi or boku, the main reason because these terms are more polite.Actually in daily life , many male use a pronoun 'ORE' to represent themselves , especially used by the strong and self-confident person.

Also, when we read a comic, we can discover that the using times of 'Boku(僕)' and 'Ore(俺)' are much more than 'Watashi(私)' in the male. And the female is still using Watashi(私) or Atashi (young girl) .

Japanese Geography Project

I have been to Japan twice and the recently journey was 2 years ago. I visited tokyo with my mum for 5 days in summer holiday. This is an unforgetable memory for me.

I was so happy to see the beautiful sunrise in the plane, it was a wonderful feeling!! I arrived Tokyo at the 5:00a.m. When I still felt sleepy , we went to the mountain to see the hot springs . There was a tuck shop which famous for black eggs(which streamed by the spring water) , when we found the shop ,many people were waiting for a long time already.

Later on we went to 3 different theme parks. This photo is the longest roller coaster in the world. Many people like this game very much .The guide told us there is always a long queue. Although it looked so great , I hadn't try it finally .It seems too excited to me.

A yummy halloween cake which placed at the entrance of Disney Sea.                                  →

If you haven't been to Disney Sea ,Let's guess what is this volcano ???   (Hint: It is a game!!)

I love this place very much because one of my favourite animate character end at here. The other reasons is the beautiful night view of this bridge(It will change into seven colour that the reason why the japanese called it rainbow bridge)

If I can visit Japan once more , Akihabara(秋葉原) should be the first choice for me.It is because there is a holy place for all animation fans^^

Interesting discovery

There is a photo that I took in a Japanese restaurant , it is the menu of that shop . In the page which shows different kinds of ramen , it uses a term
ラーメン屋 (which mixed up from katakana and chinese) as the title. Using a katakana words to present the dishes , I think the main reason of using katakana due to the popularity of Japan.

In Hong Kong, Japanese products are very popular and famous .Most people agree that all those products have a good quality and safe. Teenagers (such as myself) are easily attracted by Japanese , that's the reason why many shops started to use Japanese for replacing chinese or english. Also ,Hong Kong is a famous city for the tourism , use different lanugage in the menu are more convenience for the foreigners.

Japanese writing project

In our daily life, we always affected by the Japanese culture. There were those example of katakana that we found, include onomatopoeia, loan words, emphasized words, scientific naming and kaomoji.

Onomatopoeia:
The sound of coming down the stair = トントン
The sound the cats make = ニャア ニャア

Loan words:
Tennis:テニス
Cream:クーリム
Choco:チョーコ

Emphasized words:
ダメ in a アルティメット ドールズ  comic.

Scientific naming:
ミヤマカラスアゲハ is the scientific name of butterful

Kaomoji:
Many Japanese love to use emoticons(kaomoji) on their cell phones or computers!
Because emoticons are so popular, they are used in manga too.
In recently years, Hong Kong people also try to use kaomoji in their communication tools,
compare with the traditional words ,this kind of communicate are much more interesting.
